BLACKSHEEP BRASS BAND

Black Sheep Brass Band is rooted in music spanning generations. You've most likely heard of the big band era (Tommy/Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, etc.). Maybe you've even heard of Traditional (Trad) Jazz? BSBB blends all of these genres and more.

BSBB is led by Maxwell Church (his mother a Senter), and he follows in the footsteps and bloodline of band leaders. His Great-Great Uncle, Boyd Senter, helped start the careers of Glenn Miller and both Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, who all got their start in his band, The Senterpedes. Boyd even wrote music ("Steamboat Stomp"), which Jelly Roll Morton recorded and popularized, not only the song, but the genre of jazz.

BSBB is based out of Sonoma County, in the North Bay Area of California. Together, they have come to distill their own jazzy/funky flavor to the world, a unique sound known as #BRASSfedFUNK, a blend of New Orleans Jazz and Northern California funk.

From the uptown to the get-down, it's time for the Black Sheep to vibrate y'all to the good sound, all around.
